PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an optical fiber array, wherein optical fibers are accurately connected at precise positions. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the optical fiber array includes: a step in which coated optical fibers 6 are inserted into a V-shaped groove 21 by a predetermined length dimension f1+f2+f3; a step in which a flat substrate 31 is mounted and a portion of the coated optical fibers 6 which excludes at least the part of ends of the length f3, a substrate 20 and the flat substrate 31 are fixed by a first adhesive 7 at one side region of the substrate 20; a step in which the outer side face of the substrate 20 and the outer side face of the flat substrate 31 are fixed by a second adhesive 9 at the other side region of the substrate 20; a cutting step in which a groove part 5 having a width of length dimension f2, where f2>f3, is formed while leaving an amount of the length dimension f3 of the coated optical fibers 6 in the V-shaped groove 21, the flat substrate is divided into a first flat substrate 8 and a second flat substrate 10, thus the V-shaped groove is divided into a first V-shaped groove 3 and a second V-shaped groove 4; and a step in which the excessive length of the length dimension f3 of the coated optical fibers 6 is removed.
