PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circulating fluidized bed type cylinder barrel gasification method and a device capable of reducing the use amount of structural materials, preventing concentration of the thermal stress, enabling enlargement in a minimum installation area, reducing construction expense by restraining the volume (weight) of refractory, and simplifying construction work of a heat insulating material by reducing heat radiation by reducing the surface area and installing in the inside a sealing structure at the time of taking out a fluid medium and an inflammable solid content from a gasification furnace. SOLUTION: Gasification reaction fluidized bed parts 14, 15 are formed in a plurality of upper and lower stages inside a vertical type cylindrical barrel gasification furnace 2. A material and a fluid medium are introduced to the central part of the gasification reaction fluidized bed part 14 so that the material and the fluid medium flow down successively while passing through the gasification reaction fluidized bed parts 14, 15. The fluid medium and the inflammable solid content are taken out from the central part of the gasification reaction fluidized bed part 15 so as to be introduced to a combustion furnace 5.
