The invention relates to a hair-styling appliance comprising a handle (1) and at least one heating portion (3) engaging with a bearing portion (2), each mounted in a respective housing (6, 5) connected to the handle (1); the hair can be inserted between the heating portion (3) and the bearing portion (2), at least one of the heating (3) or bearing (2) portions being mounted such as to float inside the housing thereof (6, 5); one of the heating (3) or bearing (2) portions is connected to at least one ball-and-socket joint; the joint is defined by a projection (4) and a receiving portion (7) and forms a cavity for receiving the projection (4) by engagement; either the projection (4) or the receiving portion (7) is secured to the heating portion or the bearing portion, while the other element is secured to the housing (6, 5); and either the projection (4) or the receiving portion (7) is a permanent magnet, while the other element is at least partially metal.
