Provided is a gas sensor wherein an electrical connection between a sensor element and a contact member can be stably secured. Said gas sensor contact member electrically connects to the sensor element by clamping the sensor element in an insertion hole formed by a pair of housing members. Restraint members that can restrain the pair of housing members to within a prescribed displacement range are provided on the outer surfaces of the pair of housing members. The restraint members restrain the pair of housing members to within a prescribed displacement range until the sensor element is champed between the pair of housing members. After the sensor element is clamped, the restraint members are sandwiched between a ring-shaped member and the pair of housing members, without producing reaction forces in response to external forces.
