The device has a rigid support (3) determining a viewing axis parallel to that of an distal fixation hole and assuring longitudinal positioning of an adjustable viewing device (9) with respect to a nail (1). The position of the viewing device with respect to the nail is regulated by translatory movements with a main component in a plane (Y) perpendicular to the nail. An adjusting unit displaces the viewing device with respect to the support along an adjusting direction (Z) that is orthogonal to an axis of the distal hole and orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the nail.
