In a centrifuge for the continuous thickening of liquid suspensions comprising a rotor 1 which is rotatable about a horizontal axis and is provided with a stack of spaced conical plates 9 bounded, at their outer periphery, by a thickening space 18 having outlets 19 for the concentrated fraction and, at their inner periphery, by a discharging space for the clear fraction, the stack of plates is divided by the central plate 10 into two separate separators 13, 14 each of which has, for evenly supplying the suspension to its outer periphery, a separate distributing channel 15 or 16 formed by the gap between the central plate 10 and an adjacent plate 11 or 12. The channels 15, 16 widen in the region of the rotor axis into a funnel-shaped chamber which is partitioned by the central plate 10 for the separate reception of the suspension from discharge openings 7 in a non-rotatable tubular body 4 which is provided with a channel 6 through which the suspension is fed. The clear fraction is discharged from the separators 13, 14 through annular paring devices 5 on the tubular body communicating with an outlet channel 8 therein. |
