SIRTUIN ACTIVITY PROMOTING AGENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To find out a substance which promotes enhancement of sirtuin activity of living cells thereby providing a substance effective for the development of medicinal preparations, foods and feeds which can prevent various kinds of diseases, and treat or prevent various kinds of diseases caused by lowering of the concentration of adiponectin in blood, hyperfunction of insulin resistance etc., and various kinds of disease states for example metabolic syndrome, diabetes and complications thereof, arteriosclerosis, and gastrointestinal diseases.

SOLUTION: The sirtuin activity promoting agent includes, as an active ingredient, ε-viniferin having particularly strong sirtuin activity five times or more that of resveratrol.
