Polymers in block, film, or thread form are rendered printable and/or translucent by (a) immersing the polymer in a selling liquid until the desired degree of swelling is attained; (b) transferring the swollen polymer to a non-swelling liquid, which is miscible with the swelling liquid; and (c) maintaining the polymer in the second liquid until the desired degree of coagulation is attained. The polymer products are rendered translucent and readily printable. Polymer films may be thus converted to a translucent, easily printed form, and polymer fibres are rendered translucent. The method is suitable for use with PVC and other vinyl polymers polyalkenes, polyamines, polyesters, polyurethanes, polycarbonates, cellulosic polymers, and rubber derivatives.
