<p>Oximes which have been extracted with salt-free water are evaporated by spraying the liquid oxime, through one or more nozzles, into a axially moving inert gas stream at 180-500 degrees C in a frustoconical evaporation chamber, the spray cone angle being smaller than the cone angle of the evaporation chamber so that the oxime does not contact the chamber walls, and the liquid oxime is sprayed parallel to the direction of the inert gas stream. Process is used for evaporation of oximes such as cyclohexane oxime for caprolactam prepn. Complete evaporation of the oxime can be obtd without decomposition or formations of deposits on the evaporator wall.</p> |
