The screw tap (1) has a square part (5) formed at an end of a shaft (4), and three attachment elements arranged at equidistant at a circumference of the shaft, where the attachment elements are formed as flat portions (6) and/or projections. The flat portions extend over an entire length of the shaft, and the projections are arranged in the shaft such that clamping jaws of a three-jaw chuck engage between the adjacent projections. The square part inserts and clamps the screw tap in an adjustable retainer of a tap wrench in a form-fit manner.
