EXHAUST GAS-TREATING DEVICE FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas-treating device which treats PM (Particulate Matter) more efficiently than a conventional one.

SOLUTION: The exhaust gas-treating device for an internal combustion engine is installed in the exhaust-gas passage of an internal combustion engine and includes a filter which captures a particulate matter in exhaust gas in the internal combustion engine. In this case, the filter is provided with a catalyst layer which is provided on the surface of the filter and on the inner surfaces of the micropores of the filter and contains a catalyst for treating the particulate matter which it captures. The catalyst layer has main voids of 0.5-1.0 μm in size.
