PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured such that part of a plurality of toner supply members is brought into contact with or separated from a belt member and an amount of movement of the belt member, in the position which faces part of the toner supply members, can be increased. SOLUTION: The apparatus includes an auxiliary extending roller 150, which comes into contact with the periphery surface of an intermediate transfer belt 10 between the transfer position of a photoreceptor 40K for black and the transfer position of four photoreceptors 40 (Y, C, M, and N), and which serves as an auxiliary extending member for extending the intermediate transfer belt 10 in a separated state as a monochrome mode.
