PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the influence of a disturbance light, in an optical sensor having a light receiving section which is used in a paper sheet conveyance device. SOLUTION: The paper sheet conveyance device includes: a conveyance tube 14 through which paper money 18 is conveyed by air flow; and a feeding device 19 for feeding the paper money 18 into the conveyance tube 14. A reflection type optical sensor 31B for detecting the paper money 18 in the conveyance tube 14 is arranged in the wall surface side of the conveyance tube 14. The reflection type optical sensor 31B, which is constituted so as to include a light emitting section 31b and a light receiving section 31a, detects light from the light emitting section 31b by use of the light receiving section 31a. The conveyance tube 14 is constituted to include a material transmitting light which is detected by the light receiving section 31a, and a light shielding section 34 for shielding light other than that from the light emitting section 31b is arranged in the wall surface side of the conveyance tube 14 facing the light receiving section 31a.
