PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fork moving device of a cargo handling vehicle capable of stably lifting a cargo regardless of its packing figure. SOLUTION: This fork moving device 11 of the cargo handling vehicle has a fork 7 extending in the horizontal direction from a shift head 5, a turning shaft 9 born by the shift head 5 and allowing the fork 7 to become a fulcrum of turning in the horizontal direction, a rack 15 fixed to the fork 7 in an attitude of extending both ends 43 and 45 in the horizontal direction orthogonal to the fork 7, a guide means 17 movably engaging the fork 7 with the turning shaft 9 along the rack 15, and a pinion 19 fixed to the shift head 5 and meshed with the rack 15 so that the center coincides with the turning shaft 9.
