PURPOSE:To increase mixture gas formation speed and to improve the combustion efficiency, by projecting a base portion having a collision face from the bottom face of a combustion chamber formed by recessing a piston head, and diffusing fuel being ejected into the combustion chamber radially outward. CONSTITUTION:Injection nozzle 24 of a fuel injection valve 23 and a spark electrode section 27 of an ignition plug 28 are arranged while facing with an ignition chamber 22 provided in a cylinder head 17. In such arrangement, a piston head 18 of a piston 16 inserted slidably into a cylinder 15 facing with a cylinder head 17 is recessed to a combustion chamber 19. A base portion 21 having a collision face 25 is projected upward from the bottom face 20 of the combustion chamber 19 so that fuel injected from the injection nozzle 24 through the ignition chamber 22 into the combustion chamber 19 is diffused radially outward. Consequently, mixture gas forming speed is increased resulting in the improvement of combustion efficiency.
