Self centring assembly for application on a machine used for mounting a tyre on a vehicle wheel having a horizontal circular disc controlled by a vertical shaft (2), with a number of equidistant radial slots with a corresponding number of displaceable grippers to clamp the wheel rim. Two identical rods (9) are connected to each gripper along a common vertical axis (7) which crosses the corresponding longitudinal axis of the slot and their opposite outer ends are joined to two rotatable plates (11) on the vertical shaft.
