<p>Disclosed are surface-modified zirconia nanocrystal particles which are obtained by surface-modifying zirconia nanoparticles with a compound that comprises, in each molecule, a modifying moiety for surface-modifying a zirconia nanoparticle, a stability-providing moiety that is composed of a carbon skeleton bound to the modifying moiety, and a dispersibility-providing moiety that is composed of a polymer chain bound to the stability-providing moiety and provides the dispersion medium with dispersibility. Also disclosed is a silicone composite material which is obtained by dispersing the surface-modified zirconia nanocrystal particles in a thermoset silicone resin matrix that is cured by crosslinking.</p> |
