PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a microscopic optical system and microscope, capable of changing the focal distance of an imaging optical system, without having to replace an imaging lens.SOLUTION: The microscope (100) is of an infinity correction type and includes a first objective lens (7) and a second objective lens (8), having reference distances calculated from the product of the focal distance and the magnification different from each other; an imaging lens (4) for forming an image of the observation light emitted from a sample; and an adapter lens (2), structured to be inserted and removed into/from an optical path (11), between the objective lens (7, 8) and the imaging lens (4). The adapter lens (2) is disposed outside the optical path (11), when the first objective lens (7) is used and is disposed inside the optical path (11) when the second objective lens (8) is used. Thus, the focal distance of each of the image forming systems (2, 4) can be changed. |
