PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toll collection system which prevents an overspeed of an approaching vehicle on a toll collection lane at a tollgate and ensures safety on the toll collection lane.SOLUTION: A toll collection system collects toll of a vehicle 12 approaching a tollgate by wirelessly communicating with an on-board device 21 of the vehicle 12 at the tollgate of a toll road. The toll collection method includes steps of measuring an approaching speed of the vehicle at the entrance tollgate, transmitting the entrance information including the measured approaching speed to the on-board device of the vehicle and maintaining it therein, acquiring the entrance information from the on-board device of the vehicle at an exit tollgate, measuring an approaching speed of the vehicle to the exit tollgate, acquiring the approaching speed to the entrance tollgate from the obtained entrance information, determining whether a safe drive discount is applied to the vehicle or not by comparing the obtained approaching speed to the entrance tollgate and the obtained approaching speed to the exit tollgate with standard values, and determining the toll of the vehicle using the obtained entrance information and predetermined discount amount based on the determined results. |
