PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mounting structure for a rotation detector 10, which can be reduced in weight and cost by reducing the number of component items and contracting the setting space.SOLUTION: The rotation detector 10 for rotating the number of rotations of a ring gear 8 is installed to a rotating housing 6 of a starter 1. The rotation detector 10 includes a sensor unit which outputs electric signals according to the number of rotations of the ring gear 8, and a mounting part for mounting the sensor unit on the housing 6, the mounting part being fixed to the housing 6 of the starter 1 by means of screwing or the like. The sensor unit can be accurately disposed relative to the ring gear 8, for example, by directly fixing the mounting part of the rotation detector 10 to an opening end surface of a housing nose 6a having a pinion window. Since dispersion of the gap ensured between the teeth of the ring gear 8 and the sensor unit can be thus minimized, the desired detection accuracy can be obtained without deterioration in sensor sensitivity. |
