An image transmission device includes: a transmission section, designation section, and control section. The transmission section transmits as first image data video images compressed by irreversible compression by wireless communication with external equipment. The transmission section transmits image data corresponding to an image from among the aforementioned video images as second image data constituting uncompressed image data or image data compressed with a compression ratio lower than that of the aforesaid irreversible compression. The designation section outputs a cut-off signal that cuts off wireless communication in response to an external operation. The control section performs control so as to cut off wireless communication by the transmission section after completion of reception of the cut-off signal from the designation section and completion of transmission of the second image data by the transmission section.
