METHOD OF OPERATING TWIN ROLL CASTING MACHINE AND COOLING-ROLL CLEANING DEVICE

A cooling-roll cleaning device comprising a brush (7) which is turned by means of a motor (8) and blast cleans a cooling roll (1), a temperature sensor (9) for measuring the temperature of cooling water passed through the cooling roll (1), and a control means (10) for operating the motor (8) according to the measurements of the temperature sensor (9), wherein the temperature region of cooling water exiting the cooling roll (1) is set in the control means (10) when oxides adhering to the outer circumferential surface of the cooling roll (1) is excessive, and the control means (10) is equipped with a function for issuing a command to the motor (8) so that the brush (7) turns at a predetermined number of turns or above according to the measurements of the temperature sensor (9).  In other words, heat flow from molten steel to the cooling roll (1) is ensured by maintaining the cleanliness of the outer circumferential surface of the cooling roll (1), and variations in thickness of a steel strip (3) in the longitudinal direction can be controlled.
