A luminaire conversion kit for a luminaire with a lamp, the luminaire defining an original space, the conversion kit including a dual capacitor (60) operably connected to the lamp, the dual capacitor (60) having first capacitor (62) and second capacitor (64) configurable to first capacitance and second capacitance; and a lamp controller (50). The lamp controller (50) includes a module controller (100) responsive to a dim signal (52) to generate a capacitor switch signal (104); and a switch circuit (120) responsive to the capacitor switch signal (104), the switch circuit (120) being operably connected to the dual capacitor (60). The dual capacitor (60) provides the first capacitance when the dim signal (52) is in the low state and the second capacitance when the dim signal (52) is in the high state. The dual capacitor (60) and the lamp controller (50) are so dimensioned as to fit within the original space.
