摘要 <p>A method for designing a resonator (1) for a pneumatic tire having a circumferential groove (5) on a tread (4) for reducing noise generated by resonance in tubular spaces defined by the circumferential groove and the road surface, the resonator (1) having a branch groove (2) branched from the circumferential groove (5) and an air chamber (3) communicating with the branch groove and having a cross section perpendicular to its length greater than that of the branch groove (2). The method is characterized in that the position (l1) of the minimum cross section (Smin)of the branch groove satisfies l1/L2/L1)/Lmax is the maximum portion of the cross section of air chamber and L is the length of contact of the circumferential groove to the road surface and that l/L and Smin/Smax satisfy the following equations; Smin/Smax =p2/2(0.75)2x(l/L)2 and Smin/Smax =p2/2(0.75)2x((l/L)2-2/p2) A pneumatic tire provided with the resonator designed by the method is also provided.</p>
