The head (1) has a path arrangement (6) for guiding a coolant (15) e.g. water, for cooling the head. The path arrangement has an inlet path guided to a deflecting path and a return path attached to a cylinder. An overcurrent path passes to another inlet path that is attached to another cylinder. An exhaust gas collecting channel (13) is connected with exhaust gas channels of the cylinders. The exhaust gas collecting channel is connected with a discharge pipe (14). The path arrangement encloses the exhaust gas collecting channel. The coolant is a water-glycol mixture, oil or a gas. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for cooling a cylinder head (2) a casting mold for manufacturing the cylinder head.
