PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent power consumption of the entire image forming system from exceeding a standard value without causing fixing fault in an image forming system including an image forming apparatus and an optional device of the image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: In the image forming system including the image forming apparatus and the optional device, the optional device includes a power use warning means that gives a warning of power use to the image forming apparatus. The image forming apparatus includes: an energization control means that controls energization of a heater in a fixing device; and a control means that performs energization control of the heater by the energization control means in a first heater control mode in which power not considering power consumption of the optional device is set as maximum input power, when no warning is given from the power use warning means (S72), and performs energization control in a second heater control mode in which power less than the maximum input power in the first heater control mode, considering the power consumption of the optional device, is set as maximum input power, when a warning is given (S74).
