PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head capable of reducing the density unevenness of print due to the driving, a thermal printer equipped with the thermal head, and a driving method for the thermal head. SOLUTION: The thermal head 10 includes a head substrate 20, a plurality of heating parts 40a arranged on the head substrate 20, and a protective layer 60 covering the two or more heating parts 40a. Power is applied to the two or more heating parts 40a to generate heat. The electric resistance value of each of the two or more heating parts 40a becomes smaller as the application of heat is repeated. The protective layer 60 is formed of the material whose chemical abrasion is accelerated as the temperature of the heating part 40a becomes higher on the D5 direction side in each thickness direction D5, D6 of the two or more heating parts 40a.
