PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate a possibility that air remains in a lightning arrester, to improve adhesion properties of silicone rubber, a lightning protection element and an insulating rod, and to improve explosion proof performance. SOLUTION: Gap adjustment fittings 7a and 7b whose diameters are larger than the lightning protection element 2 are installed on sides of both laminated terminal metals 6a and 6b of the lightning protection element 2. Metal plates 7a and 7b being the gap adjustment fittings have the diameters which are brought into contact with the insulating rod 4 arranged to surround the lightning protection element 2 and hold intervals in which silicone rubber 3 easily enter a portion 8 between the lightning protection element 2 and the insulating rod 4 at the time of molding. Thus, the air remaining between the lightning protection element 2 and the insulating rod 4 is prevented and deterioration of explosion proof performance of the lightning arrester 1 can be prevented. An insulating ring can be used instead of the gap adjustment fitting, and the ring is bonded to a periphery of the lightning protection element, and at least one insulating material pieces can be inserted into the portion 8 between the lightning protection element 2 and the insulating rod 4.
