<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove foreign matters stuck to the surface of a display device without introducing a new apparatus in an image display device. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device 1 includes: a display device 2 for displaying images, and a driving circuit for driving the display device 2. The display device 2 includes a scanning electrode and a sustaining electrode. A driving circuit vibrates the display device by applying a specified AC voltage between the scanning electrode and the sustaining electrode when the image are not displayed.
