PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scaffold which is equipped with a constitution capable of safely and efficiently performing work for a pit wall. SOLUTION: This hanging scaffold (scaffold 31) capable of ascending/descending in a vertical shaft includes a working floor 51 and a plurality of plate-like bodies 67 which are mounted on the outer peripheral section 66 of the working floor 51 in such a manner as to surround the working floor 51 along the outer peripheral section 66 of the working floor 51. The plate-like body 67 can be set in the overhanging state of being extended outward with respect to the outer periphery of the working floor 51 and the rising state of rising with respect to a working floor surface 62 orthogonal to a center line C of the hanging scaffold.
