<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for easily and inexpensively manufacturing a light scattering film contributing improvement of display performance of an image display device and reducing its thickness. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the light scattering film includes a process for at least letting dope containing thermoplastic resin and light transmissive particles flow and spread on a support body, drying it after peeling it off, and manufacturing a light transmission basic material, a process for at least applying a coating liquid containing hardening compound, polymerization initiator, and solvent on the light transmission basic material and drying the solvent, and a process for hardening the hardening compound and forming a hardened layer. The light transmission basic material includes a surface having recessed and projecting parts, average primary particle diameter of the light transmissive particles exceeds 2.5 μm and 12 μm or less, and average thickness of the hardened layer is 0.1 μm or more and 10.0 μm or less to satisfy the following expressions (1)-(3); (1):0.05 μm≤Ra≤0.8 μm, (2):10 μm≤Sm≤300 μm, and (3):1.5°≤θa≤4.5° (wherein, Ra is calculated average roughness of the hardened layer based on JIS B 0601, Sm is average interval between crest and valley on a surface of the hardened layer, and θa is average inclination angle of the surface of the hardened layer). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
