PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more compact electrode for a vacuum valve by simplifying a vertical magnetic field-generating coil and maximizing a magnetic field-generating region. SOLUTION: The electrode for a vacuum valve includes: a contactor base 1 formed with a plurality of slits 1c by cutting in the circumferential direction of a nearly circular conductor from outside thereof and having projection parts 1a in directions parallel with the center axis of the circular conductor in the tip of a beak-like part of the conductor positioning outside the slit 1c; a nearly disk-like contactor 2 placed on the projecting part 1a of the terminal base 1 and electrically connected to the projecting part 1a; and a reinforcing member 5 provided between the contactor base 1 and the contactor 2 to fix both the contactor base and the contactor.
