PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance stepup efficiency in IP address assignment. SOLUTION: An IP address assignment control apparatus comprises: a storing section which stores the port number of a port possessed by a network switch serving as a starting point; an IP address corresponding to an interface possessed by a calculation server connected to the port; an IP address corresponding to an interface possessed by a calculation server connected to a network switch not being an original point; and a MAC address. The apparatus also obtains the MAC address which corresponds to each interface and is transmitted by the calculation server connected to the network switch as a reference point and stores it in the storing section, obtains the corresponding MAC address and the IP address from the storing section and reporting them to a DHCP server, and commands the DHCP server to register the MAC address and IP address.
