PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a continuous casting method correspond to change of operating conditions of continuous casting while satisfying constraints of both of solidification uniformity and friction binding force. SOLUTION: In the continuous casting method using a mold 1 consisting of a pair of multistage taper short side mold plates 2 having two or more tapers different from each other in the casting direction, and a pair of long side mold plates 3 which sandwich the multistage taper short side mold plates 2 from both sides in the width direction, a position of a taper changing point of the multistage taper short side mold plates 2 is relatively moved in the casting direction to a meniscus position 11 of molten metal in the mold 1 by moving the multistage taper short side mold plates 2 in the casting direction during casting.
