The razor (1) has a shaving head (2) pivotable around a transverse axis (Q) and comprising pivotable razor blades (6) that are arranged at a variable distance from each other, and a handle (3) projecting from the head. A sliding button is arranged at an outer side of the razor, and a connection rod and an engaging plate are provided between the button and the blades. The blades are pivotable between a shaving position with a shaving distance and a cleaning position with a cleaning distance, where the shaving distance is smaller than the cleaning distance. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method for cleaning a razor (2) a method for sharpening blade edges of a razor.
