1516572 Resilient bushings JOERN GmbH 5 March 1976 09048/76 Heading F2S A bushing assembly for resiliently mounting a rod or pin 11 comprises a bushing comprising a plurality of part-annular segments 4 each having a rubber layer 20 bonded between outer and inner metallic shell portions 1, 2, and an outer shell which receives the bushing, the shell comprising a plurality of part-cylindrical elements 5, 6 which can be drawn together. The outer shell portions 1 are required to be thicker and therefore more rigid than the inner shell portions 2. The overall dimensions are required to be such that, with the bushing assembly assembled round the rod 11, the end faces 3 of adjacent outer metallic shell portions 1 abut, whereas those of the inner metallic shell portions 2 do not. The outer shell halves 5, 6 are drawn towards each other by nuts and bolts 12, 13, but the outer metallic shell portions 1 of the bushing abut before they do. During assembly the portions 1 and 2 of the bushing remain concentric. There may be a thin rubber layer 10 on the inside of the inner metallic shell portions 2 of the bushing. In Fig. 8 (not shown) the central rod has a portion of increased diameter and to accommodate this the bushing has a smaller mean diameter at its axial ends than in its central portion. |
