摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyacrylonitrile-based continuous carbon fiber bundle useful as a surface layer material improving the impact resistant characteristic of a carbon fiber composite material as a primary structural material of an aircraft, having a low tensile elastic modulus, a high elongation at break and a low saturated water absorption rate, also containing a little amount of nitrogen molecule and having a specific orientation structure as its graphite fine crystalline structure; and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This polyacrylonitrile-based continuous carbon fiber bundle has 70-140 GPa strand tensile elastic modulus, 1.3-3% elongation at break, 0-0.4 wt.% saturated water absorption rate, 1-5% nitrogen content obtained from its elemental analysis, and 1.3-2.0 nm crystal size at C-axis obtained by 002 diffraction line and 75-80% degree of crystal orientation at the 002 plane by an X-ray diffraction measurement.
