PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display device which is improved in reliability by securing DC balance, an electronic device and a drive method for an electrophoretic display panel. SOLUTION: A drive control unit 20 includes a display color setting means 200 of setting a display color after update for each segment, a display color decision means 240 of deciding a display color before update for each segment, a first pulse application means 210, a second pulse application means 220, and a third pulse application means 230. For a segment whose display colors before and after update are both intermediate colors, a first pulse application means 210 applies a first pulse to change a display part thereof to white or black, a second pulse application means 220 applies a second pulse which is opposite in polarity to the first pulse by an amount which is substantially equal to the sum of the application amount of the first pulse and the application amount of a third pulse to change the display part to white or black, and a third pulse application means 230 applies the third pulse which is opposite in polarity to the second pulse to update the display part to a set display color.
