<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To share a drive control circuit of an electrophoretic display. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The electrophoretic display (1) has a display section (3) which is configured with a plurality of pixels (20) respectively defined so as to correspond to intersection of a plurality of scanning lines (40) and a plurality of data lines (50), provided so as to intersect with each other. Each of the plurality of pixels has: a pixel electrode (21) and a common electrode (22) arranged to face each other; an electrophoretic element (23) including electrophoretic particles, arranged between the pixel electrode and the common electrode, and to which polarization is provided according to a potential difference between the pixel electrode and the common electrode; a pixel switching element (24); and a polarization reading section (26) that reads a polarization state of the electrophoretic element to which the polarization is provided.
