Provided is a method for fluorescently labeling a protein, which can also be used to fluorescently label a biomolecule (protein) in vivo. The method for fluorescently labeling a protein comprises obtaining a fused protein of a subject protein to be labeled with a photoactive yellow protein (PYP) or the like and reacting the fused protein with a compound of formula (I) to thereby fluorescently label the subject protein. In the compound of formula (I), the coumarin skeleton in formula (A) or the benzene skeleton in formula (B) associates with group X in the molecule and, consequently, the fluorescence originating in group X is inhibited. When the coumarin skeleton in formula (A) or the benzene skeleton in formula (B) in the compound of formula (I) binds to the PYP or a PYP-origin protein contained in said fused protein, the intramolecular association between the coumarin skeleton in formula (A) or the benzene skeleton in formula (B) and group X disappears and, therefore, the fluorescence originating in group X is emitted.
|
