<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stainless steel which is used for clothing and which can be worked into a part having a complex shape and non-magnetic properties that sufficiently allow the worked articles to cope with severe testing by a needle detector. <P>SOLUTION: The high-Mn austenitic stainless steel has a componential composition comprising, by mass, 0.02 to 0.12% C, 0.05 to 1.5% Si, 10.0 to 22.0% Mn, ≤0.03% S, 4.0 to 12.0% Ni, 14.0 to 25.0% Cr and 0.07 to 0.17% N, and in which the above components are comprised in such a manner that δcal expressed by formula; δcal(%)=(Cr+0.48Si+1.21Mo+2.2(V+Ti)+0.15Nb)-(Ni+0.47Cu+0.11Mn-0.0101Mn<SP>2</SP>+26.4C+20.1N)-4.7 is controlled to ≤5.5%, and has a magnetic permeability of ≤1.003 in a magnetic field of 200 kA/m. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
