PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steering device for a vehicle which does not give a feeling of incongruity to a driver while a system is switched to backup when a rolling angle of an operation wheel cannot be controlled according to a steering angle of a steering wheel in a vehicle having a so-called steer-by-wire mechanically separated from the steering wheel.

SOLUTION: When a rolling angle of an operation wheel mechanically separated from a steering wheel cannot be controlled according to a steering angle of the steering wheel, until connection of the steering wheel and the operation wheel is completed, the rolling angle of the operation wheel is controlled according to the rolling angle condition of the operation wheel immediately before the rolling angle of the operation wheel cannot be controlled.
