PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radiation imaging apparatus and a gain calibration method for performing calibration without erasing a target image even when a target for positioning is left disposed. SOLUTION: The radiation imaging apparatus includes: extraction means 71 for extracting a target image by applying a Median Filter to a uniform irradiation image obtained by irradiating a flat panel detector 2 with radiation and subtracting the uniform irradiation image from the image; changing means 75 for changing a pixel value of the target image extracted by the extracting means into an average value of an area excluding the target image in the uniform irradiation image or a pixel value of an image in an area adjacent to the target of the uniform irradiation image; and map creating means 76 for creating a gain property map of the flat panel detector 2 where the pixel value of the target image is changed by the changing means 75.
