<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and reagents for inducing active immunity in animals. <P>SOLUTION: Recombinant herpesviruses having foreign DNA can induce active immunity to the herpesvirus. The source of the foreign DNA is provided. Variant herpesviruses have portions of their genome deleted. In the UL54.5 open reading frame of avian herpesviruses or the UL43 open reading frame of Marek's disease virus, foreign DNA is introduced to recombinant herpesviruses, or a part of their genome is deleted from the recombinant herpesviruses. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
