PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tire for maintaining excellent off-road performance and wet performance without increasing a lug groove area, and improving maneuvering stability during on-road driving in the pneumatic tire for mud and snow driving provided with a plurlaity of peripheral major grooves and lug grooves on a tread surface. SOLUTION: In the pneumatic tire in which the two peripheral major grooves respectively continuous in a tire peripheral direction and arranged at both right and left sides of a tire equator 2 of the tread surface are arranged and a land part sandwiched by the peripheral major grooves is formed into either of a rib row or a block row, a number of lug grooves 5 extending from the peripheral major grooves to at least cross the tire equator are intermittently arranged in the tire peripheral direction at the land part 4C sandwiched by the two peripheral major grooves 3C positioned on the tire equator side to sandwich the tire equator among the peripheral major grooves, and a groove bottom line of the lug groove 5 is formed to have a peak 6 to make the groove bottom height the maximum around the tire equator, and the groove depth of the peak 6 is set to 45% or less of the maximum groove depth of the lug groove.
