<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the optical characteristics of an optical scanner, which is mounted on an image-forming device, without increasing cost. Ž<P>SOLUTION: An exposure window is provided at a position, which corresponds to a second fθ lens, on the upper face of an optical scanner 1000, and a slidable optical scanner cover 1100 is provided above the optical scanner 1000. A shutter 1410 for opening and closing the exposure window is formed in the optical scanner cover 1100. A pore 1412 is formed at the center part of the shutter 1410, and a pore 1414 is formed at the end part of the shutter 1410. When the exposure window is closed by the shutter 1410, laser beams are radiated from the pore 1412 and the pore 1414, and these laser beams are measured to measure the optical characteristics of the optical scanner.
