PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To notify a driver intelligibly of a state of a route from own vehicle position to a destination, in a navigation apparatus. SOLUTION: The navigation apparatus sets the destination 32, and detects own vehicle position 30. Then, the navigation apparatus generates a summarized map 23 for showing the route from own vehicle position 30 to the destination 32, and displays the summarized map 23, a normal map 22 and a crossing enlarged map 21, simultaneously on a display monitor.
