<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide hydrophobic porous oxide particles having a large pore volume and surface area and a small and uniform particle diameter, and to provide a method for hydrophobicizing porous oxide particles. <P>SOLUTION: The hydrophobic porous oxide particles are hydrophobic oxide particles having a great number of pores formed therein having open ends on at least the surfaces, in which a ratio (N<SB>RO-</SB>/N<SB>-OH</SB>) of the number of organic substituents (N<SB>RO-</SB>) to the number of hydroxy groups (N<SB>-OH</SB>) on the outer surfaces and inner wall surfaces of pores of the oxide particles is not less than 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
