The present invention describes a specific method for the detection and diagnosis of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, agent causing the porcine contagious pleuropneumonia. Due to the specificity and sensitivity, the inventive method is useful for the identification and quick diagnosis of A. pleuropneumoiae. The method comprises the use of specific oligonucleotides, which amplifies, by means of a polymerase chain reaction (PCR), a gene encoding for the 24 kDa metalloprotease from A. pleuropneumoniae, which allows biovars 1, 1b and 2 to be detected in a specific form and remove false positives in tests.
