The method involves treating a selective catalytic reduction catalytic converter comprising molybdenum and/or tungsten compounds as active components with aqueous reactivating or optimization fluid. The fluid comprises catalytically active components, where the fluid is supplied to the catalytic converter by using a pump. The catalytic converter is supported in a catalytic converter-supporting material e.g. titanium, silicon and aluminum-oxides, that is supported by a metal grid.
